Ash Rise with Q&A
Ash Rise is a Scottish documentary and project by the Scottish Furniture Makers Association (SFMA) that highlights the beauty of Scotland’s native ash trees and the environmental devastation caused by ash dieback disease. The film follows the journey of the wood from woodland to workshop, showcasing how makers and designers are transforming diseased, felled timber into new, artistic furniture to give the material a future.
It explores the environmental impact, sustainable crafting, and craftsmanship of Scottish timber, featuring furniture makers Tom Addy, Angus & Lorna Ross, Dr Helen McKay OBE, Alice Broome and Andrew Macqueen.
Filmed on location at: Killearn Home Farm - Stirlingshire, Scottish Wood - Dunfermline, Tor Workshop - Ballater, Angus Ross Furniture Studio - Aberfeldy, Forest Research Northern Research Station - Roslin, Moffat.
